They must be tanked relatively close to Garr, as they deal more damage if they are far away Kill Garr after the four adds. After Garr is killed, the other adds must be killed. Comment by Thottbot You shouldn't kill all the adds before taking down Garr, for an extremely simple reason. Usually our fight looks like this. Comment by Thottbot This boss is extremely easy if u have enough warlocks, my guild took him down on our first try. Comment by Thottbot in my opinion garr is not very hard, he has about , hp and our healers are able to keep up, but it takes a lot of organization and everyone focusing because he has so many adds.
Garr is probably one of the most technical fights in the instance. The main reason why raids wipe, i think is because by the time they get to Garr, it's usually in the middle of the night and they're quite tired, and can't focus on their jobs.
Comment by Thottbot My guild has just started on MC well, a couple of months ago and I didn't appreciate what a technical fight this was - as well as a bit of a logistical nightmare. Trying to get all the locks to target a different one of his adds was tough enough people not paying attention etc ; but I think this one's more about discipline and planning than raw power.
We've wiped twice on him so far, due to lack of planning and consequently everything going pear-shaped when one of the little buggers is running loose, not banished or tanked! Hoping to get him down this Sunday - Nightslayer Cover here I come! Comment by Thottbot We had about 5 warlocks, and an alot of warriors. It was fun. Shazz is a pain though Long distance fight if any of you guys didn't know Comment by Thottbot well it was very late when we got to him and we wiped about 3 times because our warlocks were not banishing and we were not well organized.
Then on our 4th try we got him. We were banishing and killing em one by on and left about 3 alive when garr was dead. Alough i was kinda pissed when one of our tank on garr died and i imediatly grabbed aggro. He dropped helm of might, arcanish crown and brutality blade.
Comment by Thottbot mc can be hella tough in the beginning. Or is it recommended? Priests ran back and we summoned. Comment by Thottbot Just killed gar with 28 men, and only 2 warlocks. As long as the adds are separated and the tanks are kept alive as the adds explode, it's no problem.
We even had druids off-tanking. Comment by Thottbot Been farming it for a while, my opinion of hardest to easiest. That being said, it could also be because we are consistantly short on priests, and use a lot more shamans and druids to fill the void, which hurts for the dispell magic intense fights, of which Sulfuron is the worst. Our guild has never, since our founding, wiped on Golemagg, if you wipe on Golemagg you suck, plain and simple, its the most vanilla, easy mode, need nothing to do boss in the game.
Baron from Stratholme makes Golemagg look like a big pussy. Comment by Thottbot we wiped on 5, hp, if i didnt die early within 5 minutes i coulda dished out 5k hp Comment by Thottbot got him with 28 and 1 warlock. Comment by Thottbot don't tank garr too far away from the adds or they will enrage and hit a ton harder tha normal. Monday, September 19, Garr. As of patch 4. He drops Garr's Reinforced Girdle of Memories which is a bind-on-equip item level physical dps plate belt.
He also drops about gold, another epic item and some nice jewelcrafting designs. He is one of 5 rare outdoor bosses added in Cataclysm. There is one in each Cataclysm zone. All of these bosses are:.
Garr - Mount Hyjal. Ranged should try to stay at maximum range. Garr will periodically dispel any magic buffs the group have and will cast Magma shackles on the group. This should be dispelled from melee as soon as possible. Every 30 seconds, Garr will begin to cast Massive Eruption. All melee must run away from Garr when he begins casting this or they will die.
If you do die, it is possible to release spirit and rejoin the fight. Wowpedia Explore. Dropped g per member in 5 man group. Comment by Guild just played him today we did a 15 man pug, 2 tanks incase main died during the fight which he didn't.
Had only one guildie die to Magma Eruption. He dropped a different shield which'll be uploaded in a moment. Everything he drops seems to be BOE so a good thing to either equip on guildies who need or AH to help your guild's funds. Group of 10 people, myself the tank, had a problem with him evade bugging once, but downed him quickly after that with his adds.
Comment by Bnecse In patch 4. Being killed and having his loot taken He's coming back to kill us! Comment by kinivus Tank was able to pull Garr away from his adds and tank him out of their path.
He kept getting killed by his special ability so I went into def stance and threw on my shield and weapon and had no problem tanking him like that. He doesn't hit hard at all except for his ability which is a 1 shot. Any help? Comment by Mazik90 He seems to be unkitable. Not because he is fast or anything.
I tried on my hunter today, and he unaggroed if I got him to far away from where I pulled him. No matter how much I shot at him.
Comment by Just pet tanked him with my turtle, Java. Downed him with 7 people, one of which was a Shaman healer. Failed - Because Garr evaded when knocked up against rock and run back to adds. Once you are already Dps'ing Boss, this is the long easy part. Magma Shackles on random people which can be dispelled. If anyone dies IF Tank or Healer is dead and waiting for them to Zerg back.. Garr is really slow. Formed a group of 12 with a tank and 3 healers, rest dps.
NPC Scan went off and did the dumb thing of trying to solo it first. Went down in about 2 seconds. Pulled together a group and other than the Massive Eruption , everything went pretty smoothly. A few of us had to run back when the Massive Eruption hit. Comment by Killed him today in a raid of 15 people, necessary because of the large amount of horde trying to wipe us. There's only one thing you need to watch out for, and thats the massive eruption.
When he casts it, run far, far away or you will die. Comment by Dahknight Just downed him on Rivendare with 10 others. Two healers and a tank with a backup is all you'll need. Comment by matamoros you can pull Garr without aggro'ing any of his adds, doesn't look possible since they encircle him, but you can. Finally got more people from around hyjal and downed him with about 9 people. Had very low DPS, but as long as tank doesn't get hit by the eruption his damage is low and a decently geared healer shouldn't have a problem.
We lost the boss multiple times to this until we figured out where to position him and how far we could run from him when he was erupting. A small group can do this as long as you stay focused and pay attention to where you are standing.
Extra: he has about 12million health. I wouldn't say it's unthinkable that a well geared hunter could solo it either with their tier 5 bonus. Comment by moopert Easy way to deal with the adds: bring a shaman and have them bind elemental one of the Firesworn. After Garr and the others pat away, you can safely pull and kill the single add without agroing the rest.
They won't respawn right away, i'm not sure how long until they do. Comment by Deadfunk Just two manned him. Blood DK and Ret Pally. We pulled the add's off two at a time and tanked them with our backs to the mountain in order to negate the knockback when they die before engaging the boss.
Here are the macros that ret pally used for survivability and utilization. The Blood DK Me was obviously the ret pallies focus target. Pally can use cleanse to remove the slow debuff. A mixture of those macros with the pally, and rotating defensive cooldowns on the DK made this possible. Army of the Dead does not pull aggro once you have aggro. Comment by Chuckthepally Does anybody know what his respawn rate is? But you will always have AMS up for the Next eruption.
Make sure to Death strike away You can absorb most of the damage he does and heal back the rest from death strike alone. Comment by power12 Just killed him on Aszune with a team of 6 players. Loot: 2 boe 1 plate, 1 cloth, and 1 JC recipe. But, since it doesn't i guess ill be back to farm MC. Wish me luck! It felt very easy though so it could likely be done with even less gear. As soon as you get the movement speed debuff remove it with HoF and run away, rest is easy - just takes a long time roughly mins.
Could be sped up with Seal of Truth but I didn't try it as I wasn't sure how high the healing requirement would jump up without Insight. Comment by Caribald Just soloed as a MM hunter. Kill the adds first possible to pull them one by one and boss doesn't aggro either because getting him too far away from his patrol area will make him Evade and reset very easily.
Antimagic pulse will remove Mend Pet, so be sure to have your pet on focus and reapply instantly! It is very easy to get your pet to full health though, as you can Distracting Shot him, seemingly without diminishing returns.
I believe he hit for up to around 36k, my pet once died to a 35k something hit because I thought he hit for a few thousands less. Comment by jaxsonbateman He's soloable, to an extent. Blood DK and Bear Druid might also be able to do it; as I'm not experienced with those classes I'm unsure if the Blood DK could deal with each snare, or if the Druid would have enough healing - but I'm sure someone would be able to test it out.
Keep in mind that while certainly doable, it's just incredibly, incredibly slow as you have to focus more on survival than damage. Comment by ritalinn Dropped the following: 4. Comment by odorous Can confirm that he is solo able as a port pally. Soul drinker and seal of insight. Don't bother with a kings or bom, he just dispel's it. Most important, is to kill the adds before you engage him. They CAN be pulled and killed 1 by 1 without aggro on Garr.
Comment by Hello All! This NPC is a hard one but we took him down 5 of us a rogue dk tank pally 2 mages and myself holy priest. Killed adds first one at a time then took him on. Comment by KittiWithKatana Just took him down 3 man, had a dk tank, resto shaman, and a bm hunter. The trick is to kill adds one by one before taking Garr on.
Also, the debuff slowing tank down before massive eruption can be removed, just have tank let the healer know when he has it on as vuhdo doesn't pick it up.
